                                                                                                                  “MUA”

O taste and see that at the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8

Ruby Sampson was an extraordinary woman of God. Born on June 3, 1945, to Matthew and Cleo Greer, she is the beloved sister of Cle Walton, Mathew Greer Jr. (Danice), and Ronald Greer. She received her heavenly wings on January 24, 2026. In her early adulthood, Ruby was married to the late Marvin Sampson. Ruby had a solid educational foundation, having attended Rosenwald Common School (Fouke, TX), Addie E. McFarland School (Mineola, TX) and Texas College (Tyler, TX). She was raised as a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, Mineola, TX under the late Rev. C.C. Colquitt and was an active member of Southside Church of Christ in Mineola, TX under the leadership of Minister Bro. Malcolm Duncan.

Ruby’s career at Morton Salt (Grand Saline, TX) marked a significant achievement as she became the first Black women to work there, paving the way for future generations of Black women. Her dedication and passion for her job and colleagues are commendable. Ms. Sampson was an exceptional seamstress (sewing her children’s clothes during their upbringing); she was passionate about crafting, watching NBA basketball games, and enjoyed saxophone music and listening to music on Alexa. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she actively supported her community by making masks. Her contributions have been recognized through a Trailblazer Award at the Black History Program, Proclamation from the City of Mineola designating June 3rd as Ms. Ruby Sampson Day, and accolades from companies like Home Interior, Tupperware and Amber Hues.

Ruby devoted herself to her family and played an instrumental role in raising some of her grandchildren. She welcomed numerous adopted sons and daughters in the neighborhood which reflected her love for community. Ruby cherished family, friends and her church; stands as a rock of guidance and discipline for all.

Ms. Sampson was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Cleo Greer, brother, Ronald Greer, son, Manuel Sampson, and brother-in-law, Eddie Walton.

Ruby is survived by children Cassandra Sampson, Cedric Sampson of (Mineola, TX) Raquel Perry, and Cloris Sampson of (Garland, TX). She was blessed to have 7 outstanding grandchildren: Tara, LaDarean (Laci), Mercedees, Markell, Paris, Braylee and Ellarie; along with 4 delightful great-grandchildren: Miguel, Cassian, AJ and Lily. With much love for her nieces, nephews and cousins.
