Obituary

Dora Rochell Griffin Lampkin was born September 3, 1962 in Tyler, TX to Harvey and Elsie Griffin. Rochell was the third born of their five daughters.

Rochell attended Tyler ISD schools. She was a licensed cosmetologist and graduate from Richard & Joseph’s Artistic School of Hair Design. Rochell was a renowned hairstylist in the Tyler community for over 30 years. Many were touched by the hands and enriched by the heart of Rochell at Lil’s Beauty Salon. She eventually retired due to health complications. 

Rochell grew up as a member of Houston Temple Church of God in Christ in Tyler, TX. She gave her life to Christ in the late 90’s and she served the church in multiple capacities. Rochell most recently was a member of Eastside Church of God and Christ in Tyler, TX. 

Rochell was the loving mother to two children: LaTangdra Griffin and Hennessey Lampkin. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Griffin, her older sisters, Harvetta Griffin Watson and Shawana Griffin Fludd, and her brother-in-law, Minister John Roberson.  

Rochell departed this life on May 8th, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, George Lampkin of Tyler, TX; her mother, Elsie Griffin of Tyler, TX; her children: LaTangdra Griffin of Tyler, TX; Hennessey Lampkin of Tyler, TX; her stepchildren: Mieshia Sanders of Tyler, TX; Adrian Akins of Tyler, TX; her grandchildren: Shacoria Whitemon of Dallas, TX; Zaylon Jones of Dallas, TX; her sisters: Deirdre Griffin Roberson of Tyler, TX; Torian Griffin of Tyler, TX; her nephews: Antonio Burnett (Alicia) of Seattle, WA; Jack Burnett of St. Petersburg, FL; Jerry Fludd of Alexandria, VA; Courtney Thomas of Tyler, TX; Keith London of Tyler, TX; Aidan Keyes of Tyler, TX; her nieces: Nadia Keyes of Tyler, TX; Chasidy Griffin Tidwell (Roy) of Little Elm, TX. Other family members include the Delaware Moore family of Dallas, TX; The Griffin family of Lindale, TX; and a host of family and friends.
