Billy Vaughn Stephens was born January 29, 1939 in Mineola , Texas to Johnny and Lula Mae Vaughn. She attended McFarland High.
She retired from Tyler Pipe after 35 years of service.
Billie was a faithful member of Friendship Church of God In Christ, In Lindale, TX .A dedicated choir member. She was always ready, when ask to bless others with her singing. She was a compassionate person, she often visited the nursing homes, visiting with the sick and shut-in. She was known for frequently visiting other churches , where she would sing her favorite songs “ If A Robin Can Say Thank You, “ and “ I Can’t See The Lord , But I Can Feel Him.” You could always hear the congregation singing alone with her. Billie was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years Derry Stephens, Jr. both her parents Johnnie and Lula Vaughn, brother; Johnny Ray Vaughn, grandson Deon Robertson, great granddaughter; Deja (Kayla ) Lyons, Bonus daughter, Felicia Kay Robertson, and Son in Law, Mack Tuck, who playfully called her Billie Goat.
Billie will forever be in the hearts of so many, throughout the community and by her daughters, Shelia Stephens of Mineola, Leitha Tuck of Arlington, TX. Elaine Tuck ( Mitchell) , Mineola, TX., Eveline Gardner, (Eddie Wooten); Mineola, TX. One Brother, James Anderson ( Florestine) of Tyler, TX. Eleven Grand Children: Twenty-eight Great grand children; Five Great-great Grandchildren. Special people to her heart are her sister in love, Bessie Caraway, Ida Henry, Hortense Grant ( Marvin), Rodney Gordon, Raymond Williams, Clyde and Karen Vaughn, Dexter and Doris Foster, Clayden Daniels, and Connie Kimble. Special nieces Noveda Bigham, Twanya McGruder and Renee Vaughn. A host of nieces and nephews.
